No support for 9.4gig RAM and slow speed let this drive down  |
LG have produced a versatile and competent drive with the LG GSA4040B. This is one of the few drives that supports all the DVD formats; DVD -/+ R/W/RW, DVD-RAM and all the CDR formats. Only a couple of things let this drive down. The first is the speed, the newer LG GSA4081B is 8X verses the 4X of this drive. The second con is that it doesnt accept DVD-RAM discs that come in cartridges and this is the clincher for me. The cartridge based DVD-RAM discs allow a maximum capacity of 9.4gig as opposed to the maximum capacity of 4.7gig of current naked DVD-R/+R/RAM. Cartridge DVD-RAM discs also have a far higher re-write limit (100,000). Had the LG drive supported cartridge and non-cartridge DVD-RAM discs I would have no hesitation in recommending this drive. But because it doesnt and the newer LG GSA4081B drive is faster Im afraid this drive only gets 3*.

Best DVD Writer Ever  |
Confused with all the different DVD writing format? What if you have DVD-R, DVD+R and even DVD-RAM all together in one drive? Despite all odds, LG has came out with a SUPER drive that combines all DVD and CD format.I have been using this for 10days, burnt about dozen of DVD-R.
It was faster and quiet than I expected.... brilliant.
This is not all .... using DVD-RAM? I feel like I am using another hard drive, delete and copy files on it 100times without a single problem ... This is a new piece of technology... Now you can read and write all your DVD and CD without worrying all the different formats. Wanna know how it performs?
Then buy this, you would love it....
